Day 39 - Huntington Beach! NOT! But we meet Linda again!

We got up and left early while it was still cool. Quiet, peaceful night, and very restful and needed. Yesterday was a hard day.

I'm so proud of my husband...he negotiated his way through Los Angeles pulling an RV. No moments of panic, no wrong turns. He did an excellent job. I could see the Hollywood sign, but couldn't get a photo, but I did get one of Capitol Records. You "Earthquake" movie fans will know this one! The other road photo is going into LA....look closely and you'll see the buildings in the "air."

We got to the campground and it's conveniently located to where we needed to go next - WalMart! I had to have a prescription refilled and David needed the oil changed in the truck. No problems with either, but the mechanic reset our trip indicator! Bummer!

We also went into AAA to find out more DisneyLand info. The girl at the counter sent us on a long wild goose chase looking for discounted tickets. She didn't know the place that had sold them previously was no longer doing it! Oh well!

Before we left to meet Linda, David took another spill. One of the underground sprinklers in the park was leaking outside our RV. He was walking Chrissy and stepped over the wet area and put his foot on the water meter where it was dry. Unfortunately, it sank because of the wet ground. No serious injury, just a scraped leg. They had the wet area repaired by the time we returned.

We didn't have tooo far to drive to meet Linda - on to Huntington Beach where my brothers live. Only my brothers are out of town in Hawaii with the whole family. The live next door to the campground we had chosen, but since they were gone, we decided on one in Anaheim. Makes it easier to go to DisneyLand! LOL

We got to the campground about lunchtime and discovered it's "four blocks to DisneyLand and you can easily walk that." Of course, it's 100 degrees here and I'm not up for that! We eat a light lunch because we're meeting Linda at Duke's in Huntington Beach for dinner at 6:00 p.m.

Off to Duke's! We don't want to get on the 5, so we take PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) all the way in. We stopped at every light along the way and were a little late getting to Duke's. Linda was already there and had gotten a pager for our table. It was great to see her again. She was as lovely and gracious as I remembered from our previous visit and know from our emails.

I noticed it was getting dark in the restaurant when we were seated. I wondered why they didn't turn on the lights and I remembered! They keep it dark until the sun sets on the ocean and THEN the lights come up. We tried to get a table near the window, but it was graduation night and those spots were not available. It was a little noisy in the restaurant, but that didn't stop us from talking for about 3 hours! We wished Colleen and Breezy could have joined us, but Breezy was moving and Colleen was helping her.

We walked out on the pier and Linda explained the "fog" that rolled in is referred to as "June Gloom." It was also cold and windy and she and I wimped out on David. We talked a bit more as the valets got our vehicles and it was too soooon time to go.

Going back to the campground was relaxing except Sir Garmin kept telling us to turn right on PCH. That would have put us in the ocean and not on the way back to Anaheim. Fortunately I knew the road and area and we were soon back to the campground. We're going to DisneyLand tomorrow! I may be too excited to sleep!

See ya down the road!

Jenny :)
