Day 43 - Part 2 - Antelope Canyon

Sorry the parts of the day got out of order, but I can't change it. If you know how, please let me know!

We went out for more sightseeing after the dam visit. We went to an overlook where you can see the marina. We meet a couple of Holland visiting the US. We told them about Antelope Canyon and they headed back into town to get an 11:30 a.m. reservation.

David didn't go with me on the shoot as he doesn't generally take photographs. The truck picked me up at the campground and it goes into Page for you to pay and get your reservation pass. Soon our guide, Dorothy (featured below) called our group. She first loaded groups of four, then groups of three. The Dutch couple, Yeroen and Yose and I made up a group of three.

It's a 10 minute ride on the pavement and then 10 minutes of jumping through sand on a huge truck. I had visions of Rommel's Raiders jumping dunes in Africa! We got stuck once, but easily got out.

Before you wonder what Antelope Canyon is, here's a link so you can read about it:

When you enter the slot canyon, your guide leads you through and suggests photo opportunities. It's crowded as your group isn't the only one there. Photographers have also paid to stay longer, but they deal with groups like us. After leading you all the way through, the guide takes a break and tells you how much time you have left to work your way back out taking photos. You're inside the canyon for 45 minutes.

Because I'd been here before, I suggested to my new friends that they take a photo when they see something they like or just shoot as it looks different when you work your way back out of the canyon. It's also hard to remember what you wanted to photograph on the way out.

We finished our tour and headed back into town. Yeroen and Yose dropped me back at the RV. They visited with Chrissy and toured our RV. They're headed on to Yosemite and we talked about our visit there.

It was a pleasure to meet both of them. They were so excited to see the US.

Off to part 3!

See ya down the road!

Jenny :)
