Day 26 - Who'll Stop the Rain?

I have another "ear worm." Ever had a song stuck in your head? That's called having an ear worm. Supposedly if you can get to the last verse, you'll get rid of it! Good luck on this one! "Who'll Stop the Rain?" is stuck in my head! Rain, Rain, Rain and Cold, Cold, Cold! LOL

What scares me about all this rain is what you can see in one of two pictures: Tsunami Zone and the birds aren't even flying! Not sure which on scares me most! LOL

We decided to leave Tillamook because of all the rain and not being able to get out, so before we left we went on two quick tours. We first saw the Air Museum. It originally held 8-9 blimps during WWII. Now it holds vintage aircraft. If you look at the picture of the prop, you'll see me and David reflected in it. The building is the largest wooden structure in the US (I think!). It's large enough that during an air show, a pilot flew through it end to end. Owls live in the upper parts of the building.

It's still raining hard, but we're beginning to understand some of the mentality here. It's going to rain, so get your stuff done. We saw a guy weedeating, kids walking to school, people shopping, and walking everywhere in the rain! You just get on with it. In all this rain, we've seen one umbrella!

Off to Tillamook Cheese. A guy at our campground told us to make sure we have a waffle cone before we leave. Good advice! When you tour Tillamook Cheese, you do a self tour and then end up in the gift shop! What a great idea! LOL Then you sample cheese, buy cheese, ice cream, and goodies. Food was great! Ice cream was the best!

Well, I know I said in the last post that we were spending some time in Lincoln City. Didn't happen! There was a tremendous storm coming in off the Pacific that was supposed to bring hail to the area. We finished our tours and headed out. On the way out of town we say a Tea/Gift Shop called "La Tea Dah." Thought it was cute.

We stopped along the way to see a lighthouse, but it was quite foggy and didn't get a good view of it. We could, however, hear the foghorn. It was thrilling!

We got to Lincoln City and the rain had not let up! We decided to drive on to Coos Bay. We passed the Dunes Area and I wish we could have stopped to see them. They go on for miles. We saw one sign that read "Just Dune It." We later found out that a lot of people get hurt or killed on ATVs in this place.

Coos Bay is where we were to meet Audrey (from my online group of friends). We've been together online for 10-15 years, but never met in person. Only problem was that now we were two-three days ahead of schedule and I knew what Audrey had coming up.

I emailed Audrey after we got set up and then David called her to break the news that we were early. We also noticed that the rain had almost stopped! Still chilly, but almost no rain. YEA!

Back to the campground and get ready for tomorrow and a visit with Audrey!

See ya down the road!

Jenny :)
