Day 25 - Back on the Oregon Trail!

Light rain falling and the temps are in the 50's. We pull out about 9:15 a.m. and reach Oregon at 10:00 a.m. We had a moment of fun with Sir Garmin. His name is Lee and Australian. We needed to turn onto Washington 4 (WA 4). Instead of telling us that, he told us to turn on Western Australia 4. Not sure how we'll make this turn!

The trip today was almost as good as the ride along the Great Lakes. David decided he didn't like the route Sir Garmin was going to take us, so he decided to drive along the Columbia River and then onto Highway 101 beginning in Astoria. One - it's raining and foggy. Two - Highway 101 isn't always on the coast and can run in the mountains, too! LOL Shades of the Canadian trip!

The picture of the rock with the bush in front was our first view of the coast. It's rocky and has huge waves!

We saw the lighthouse at Cape Mearas. It's the shortest one on the coast. It's not longer used, but it's beautiful from there. Also at Cape Mearas we saw the octopus tree. It's a kind of fir that's spread out. The cliffs picture of typical of what we've seen.

We've seen some interesting signs:

Beer is cheaper than gas. Drink. Don't Drive.

Holiday Inn Express under a bridge:
Where sleeping under the bridge is a good thing.

Coffee shop: Divine Grounds

We passed through Paradise - David decided he didn't want to visit Paradise because it was wet, cold, and windy. Even the dog hates it! LOL

Early evening and off to see Tillamook tomorrow.

See ya down the road!
