Day 28 - Fun with Dick and Audrey

Audrey is a member of Liberty Baptist Church and invited us to go with her. I'm glad we did! We got to meet more of her friends and met her brother, Dutch. He's a very talented artist and Audrey has a lot of his work. Check out his website: http://www.raftisland.com/dutch/default.htm His work is beautiful. We also met Dutch's family. We enjoyed the music and the preaching at Liberty. Nice folks!

After church we agreed to meet back at the RV in about an hour so Audrey could take us on a tour of her town and area. Dick was cooking dinner for us!

Audrey arrived and we introduced her to Chrissy. Chrissy is a little tough to warm up to people and barks and growls. She's a territory protecting dachshund. She fell in love with Audrey right away. She even came with us on our tour!

The weather was beautiful! Sun was out and so were a lot of people looking for clams. We watched them for awhile and kept touring. Audrey and I visited the gardens while Chrissy and David napped in the car. The roses weren't blooming yet, but the garden was spectacular.

The seals again! LOL The tide was in when we saw them the first time. What I thought was rocks turned out to be seals! They were everywhere! And making a racket.

We decided it was time for some lunch, so we headed into Charleston. On the way I got a nice picture of the Cape Arago Lighthouse. It's not in use anymore, but it's still lovely on the coast. But back to lunch....what would a visit to the coast be without fish! YUM!

We drove around more of Coos Bay and Audrey took us to her friend Rosalee's house. It sits above Coos Bay and has a great porch for viewing the bay and beyond. Rosalee has a spotting scope set out on the porch so you can watch the large ships come in and out. All to soon it was time to leave. It was time to head to Audrey's house!

We got to meet Dick (the wonderful chef). He and David had similar working backgrounds and were soon chatting away like old friends. Dick had most of dinner ready, but it needed to cook just a moment longer so Audrey and I chatted. Audrey was born in Holland and her home reflects her heritage. It was lovely to see all the blue and white tile work and other pieces. She has a great collection of teapots and tea cups. She also has a lot of her brother's artwork, too. And flowers! She even had calla lilies blooming freely in her backyard!

Time for dinner! Fried chicken (best I've ever had!), mashed potatoes, gravy, and broccoli. Dessert was served, too. Wonderful meal and even better hosts!

All tooo soon it was time to go back to the campground. We said our goodbyes and headed back. Time to pack up to move to Crater Lake!

See ya down the road!

Jenny :)
